I recorded this yesterday in the park. Just a quick holiday greeting. Hope you had a great 4th! – TJ

Hey out there. Happy fourth of July. I decided that since it’s a holiday, I’d record in the park. And if you think about it, it’s Saturday and I’m in the park, and it just happens to be the fourth of July. Anybody out there sharp enough to catch that? If so, comment below.

So, I’ve got my Osmo Pocket 3 on a tripod right in front of me. I’ve got my Dee-Jay-Eye Bluetooth mic for clean audio. I’ve got an immersive novel, and a delicious vanilla cappuccino. Life is perfect. There’s children playing across the way—you probably can’t hear them, or the light traffic on the access road behind me. All-in-all, it’s a really pretty July 4th in the park. Happy 250th anniversary America.

Putting these videos together by myself is quite the challenge. Do I use “AI”? As a tool, yes.—But only to help reduce production time. I know, there are channels out there that claim that AI can do it all. Do it automatically—from start to finish. Yeah, I don’t know. That sounds like a huge, load, of steaming, “horse hooey”, if you ask me. That’s, uh, slightly censored for YouTube. Read between the lines.

My ideas come from my experiences—they’re not generated by AI. Ideas like, what have I struggled with in the course of publishing my novels? What obstacles did I learn to overcome or at the very least, find a work around? These are where my video ideas come from.

Then I write an outline, and then a script. And “then” I use AI to generate the clips. It’s faster than setting up a backdrop, flood lighting, shadow lighting, a microphone, and a camera on a tripod. It helps cut production time.

Then I load all the clips into the editors. What editors do I use? I use three different editors, one of which is DaVinci Resolve. I do all the editing myself. I don’t send it out to off-shore editors like some channels do, claiming everything is automated. No, I edit the videos in-house so each one has a personal touch. There really is a lot of effort that goes into publishing one of these.

On a different topic. I’m excited about documenting my novel process. I talked about that in my intro video. I’ll probably start with the concept influences, and go from there. I worked with some great artists along the way, and if they’re interested, I’d like to interview them for my “In The Spotlight” playlist.

If you don’t already know, my YouTube videos support my business blog at: the author spot dot com forward slash in the spotlight.

Well, there’s a family across the way grilling some burgers that smell amazing. Did you hear that? My stomach just growled. I’m going to wrap this up and go enjoy the rest of this holiday. Hope ya’ll join me online. I’d love to hear your comments.

Feels wrong not to say, “Go on and write. We’ll handle the tech.”
